If there was ever a face that read “never trust something in good faith only because it’s found online,” this would be it.
Less Than Perfect Fit
Emily was beyond excited for her big night. She has been dreaming about her senior prom ever since she could remember. After months of studying hard for her SATs and volunteering for extra curriculum credit, this was her time to kick back, unwind and have fun. When the captain of the football team, Jerome, asked her out to prom, she knew her dress would have to be breathtaking. However, she never thought that would be a bad thing – until she received her online order.
Tiffany worried she would not find a dress in time for her sister Stacy’s wedding. Being a paralegal at a well-established law firm in New York City and law student at NYU, Tiffany hardly had any free time on her hands to go dress shopping. That is when she turned to her last resort – online shopping. After hours of browsing, she finally found the perfect dress. Unfortunately, the description and photos on the website were far from accurate, and she ended up borrowing a dress from a friend.
Nicole was desperate to surprise her mom for Mother’s Day since she knew her mother has been having a hard time recently at work and was generally under a lot of pressure. To make sure the surprise was kept under wraps, Nicole attached a message to the online order she placed, asking that the packaging would not look obviously celebratory. While the online store respected her wishes and chose a plain cardboard box, they taped the most incriminating message thinkable to the packaging.
Colleen wanted nothing more than to surprise her boyfriend for his 28th birthday, so she placed an order at 1-800-Flowers and requested a bouquet shaped like a Golden Retriever’s face. She knew this was her boyfriend’s favorite dog breed and intended on surprising him later on with a dog of the same kind that she had adopted. Only when the bouquet arrived, it ended up looking more like a melted, squished face of a cartoon than the adorable creature she had in mind.
Halloween was coming up, and this guy had been waiting all year to pull off the best costume imaginable. He is a well respected high school drama teacher, and over the years he landed the reputation of someone who stops at no expense when it comes to pulling together the ultimate costume. This year’s holiday of spooks and candy, he planned to dress up as Catwoman, but the leggings he ordered online turned out to be fit for a doll, not a full-grown man.
This adorable newlywed couple was ecstatic about purchasing their very first house together. They made a pact to throw everything old and used out and make a home that consists of things they only bought together. When it came to picking out the rug, they could not see eye to eye at first when discussing the color. Finally, the color purple was chosen – but it wasn’t the color that came out off when the order came in. It was the tiny size.
George moved into his apartment right across from where he attended college. His roommate, Tom, asked that George would chip in with the general house shopping – since he purchased the curtains for the living room windows, it only made sense that George would buy the rug. Since George didn’t have time or patience to read through the fine print describing the carpet, he was very surprised when he received a bookmark-size rug and not one that was fit for the living room floor.
Ho Ho Horrible
Nothing says a sad Christmas like a bare, naked tree that barely has any branches and leaves, which is why a lot of people turn to the plastic version. Additionally, more and more people choose the greener version of Christmas trees and prefer not to support the industry that chops millions of trees each year for only a couple of weeks at most. However, this plastic tree was purchased under the false impression that it looked like a full, healthy one once all branches were in place.
A lot of things can be lost in translation, but if there is one thing that is nearly impossible to get confused is a clear picture of what a product should look like. In the picture on the left, the sweater is at mini-dress length, and the sewed on mittens are positioned right above the model’s abdomen. In the picture on the right, which was taken by the girl who actually purchased the sweater from a website, you can see the mittens are completely misplaced.
Bigger Is Better
A worker could not stop laughing at this awkward and unlikely situation, so she turned to social media to post this picture along with the caption: “My boss bought 50 chairs in an online auction… It wasn’t until we went to pick them up, that it was at an elementary school!” At least he was a good enough sport to sit on the tiny chair and pose for the hilarious photo. We just hope the employees were not forced to sit on these miniature chairs.
Ghost Of Star Wars Past
This girl wanted to go as her all-time favorite character for her friend’s Halloween bash. That is why the minute she heard about the party, she went online and purchased a Princess Leia costume. It is not as if Star Wars costumes were scarce, but she wanted to make sure she looked just right. You can imagine the look on her face when she tore the package open, only to find out she received something that resembled a ghost much more than the princess of planet Alderaan.
Not That Kind Of Girl
Just from the way her legs are bruised, you can tell these are not the shoes this girl intended on buying. This is not the type of girl who would go out of her way and put herself in pain just for the sake of looking good for others. This is the type of girl who likes to get rough, a tomboy who means business. That’s why she found it so ridiculously funny when the shoes she received after shopping online were this pair of high heel pumps.
Amy always dreamt of the perfect pair of leather pants, but having tried so many on at different stores, she reached the conclusion that she simply does not feel comfortable wearing pants that are that tight. Instead of giving up on the shiny garment altogether, she turned to cyberspace and ordered a pair of thigh high, black latex socks. The minute she tried the pair on she quickly understood some things you just have to try on, as this pair looked like garbage bags hanging from her thighs.
Bowl Of Fun
Unless you work at a soup kitchen and are accustomed to cooking food for the masses in enormous pots, this ladle is not proportional by any means. Teddy ordered the ladle online after he understood there was no way his busy schedule as a high tech executive would enable him to go shopping anytime soon. Not for a second did he stop to think that there might be several ladle sizes available online – something he clearly should have kept in mind.
Canada Day, Canada’s national day and federal statutory holiday which celebrates the anniversary of July 1, 1867, has proud patriots wearing the flag’s colors all over the country each year. This public-spirited man could not wait for this year’s Canada Day, so he went online and purchased a shirt he could wear proudly on his favorite day of the year. Disappointingly, when it arrives, he found out the size was terribly off and the chart updated on the website was far from accurate. Oh well, there’s always next year!
Phone (And Face) Cover
A boy turned to Twitter to express his frustration when he ordered a phone cover featuring himself and his good friend. However, much to his surprise, the company in charge of printing the cover thought it would look a lot better if they were to place random pictures of desserts on top of his face and his friend’s hand. Not only is this a completely bizarre mistake to make, it would seem on purpose, as it takes serious measures to edit the photo in such a way.
This guy was saving up for a brand new armchair, but then came across this deal that seemed simply too good to pass off. He did not make a habit of online shopping – as a statistics analyst, he liked to live his life in a risk-free environment where he knew exactly what he was getting for his money. How unfortunate that the first time he gathered the courage to splurge and live on the edge a little, he ended up with a kid-sized piece of furniture.
Emily’s mother ordered a cake for her sister Laura’s birthday and asked that the cake would be topped with a small blonde girl as an adorable finish that would resemble her daughter. However, the autocorrect function on her phone was turned on and consequently changed the word “blonde” to “blind.” Moira, the baker, received this text and did not question what her customer had asked for, as the customer is always right. She made the cake exactly to order – much to poor Laura’s dismay.
If you consider yourself to be a valid member of the social media community, there’s no chance you haven’t come across the videos featuring tiny cooking sets. It may seem pointless and like a lot of fuss for something that isn’t even worthy of being called bitesize, but the phenomenon completely took over the platforms. This guy, on the other hand, did not intend on contributing to the passing phase – he just wanted a new cooking set. Next time he’ll be sure to check the sizes before placing an order.
Cat’s Out Of The Bag
Danny Mellor posted a status on Twitter since he simply had to share the hilarious outcome of his mom’s latest shopping spree. The middle-aged woman might not be considered a tech wiz, but she sure can place an order on eBay, and she swore she checked the size of the backpack before making the purchase. The converse rucksack might not have fit her grandchild’s needs, but at least the cat got a fresh accessory out of the mistake.
Although this is very similar to the picture that was displayed online, there is no denying there is something seriously twisted about these rings. When they are positioned this way, 90 degrees to the left, it makes them seem like a sideways Facebook logo. We highly doubt this was the intent of the purchaser, and hope for the business’s sake no other paying customers received such so-called goods, as this could hurt their income and credibility in the future.
Beat The System
The man in the picture below unknowingly purchased a 2-person child’s tent, thinking it would make one adult-sized tent. He thought he managed to skip the hefty price of a full-size tent, but was severely surprised when he opened the tent up at the music festival he attended later that week and found out the only way he fit was by crunching himself like a ball. He does not look happy in the picture, but at least he had something that kept him warm at night.
Worst Wedding Decision
Many girls like shopping online for their prom dresses, as it is a cheap substitute for the goods offered in local stores. However, if there is absolutely one thing you should not take a risk on when online shopping, it is your wedding gown. This girl had to learn that the hard way, as the gown she purchased off a random website did not look anything like what the picture displayed. Luckily, she found another dress before the important day and tossed this one away.
Keeping It Simple
The vest was meant to be Tom’s ultimate piece of clothing for the winter. Since he was always the one to feel hot then cold in the auditorium at college, he thought this wrap, which resembled a blanket, would be the ultimate solution. He could not believe his eyes when the piece of clothing he received was a plain, rectangular sheet with two holes cut out for arms. He has heard of others being fooled online before, but not to this extent.
It turns out one size does not fit all, and this poor guy had to learn that the hard way. He had known about his trip to London for two months now, but money has been a little tight so he decided to shop online for a trench coat that would look both sophisticated and keep him warm. Disappointingly, what he received was a poorly sawn jacket that looked nothing like what the picture on Amazon had presented.
If there was ever a reason why you should not buy something online that could very possibly be a fake, it was this. The Apple product iPad is definitely not a cheap one, which should have been the first warning sign for the person who found it for a ridiculous price. If he would have done his research and asked for the warranty, he most likely would have found out this was a scam and avoided the hassle of contacting PayPal to get his money back.
Yet another drunken purchase was made by Emily, who simply could not resist owning something titled “bag of unicorn farts.” Even the description of it being 100% magical, majestic and mythical made it sound like a must-have. When it arrived in the mail, Emily had already forgotten she has ever made the purchase. You can imagine how surprised she was to come across this bag of cotton candy titled “a rainbow of smiles inside,” only to realize she spent way too much money on candy.
When In Paris/London
Sarah had a short trip business to London, but she did not have as much time to herself as she wished. Running from one meeting to another, Sarah realized she probably would not have time to shop for a souvenir for her niece, so she placed an online order for a T-shirt and had it delivered to her apartment in New York. When she arrived back home, she found the package waiting outside her door, but much to her surprise, London was not the only city featured on the shirt.
Stephanie wanted a flowing mini skirt ever since she spotted that mannequin sporting the same look when she was cruising around the mall. Unfortunately, the skirt Steph saw was way out of her budget, so she placed an online order for a skirt she found online. She picked the small size since she has always been petit built – but she had no idea the website she was ordering from had a different idea in mind when stating the size was “small.”
Knock Knock Joke
Electronics are probably best purchased from a reliable source, somewhere you can see if you are getting your money’s worth or not. TVs might have cost a lot more back in the day, but there is no denying the luxurious item can still be rather expensive. Alfred bought the television in the picture below, being optimistic about his purchase as he did end up paying quite a hefty amount for it. However, when it arrived, he was in for a big surprise.
Short Term Solution
The guy in the picture below suffered from horrible migraines, so he went to see a neurologist who was supposed to be one of the best in the field. After a series of tests, the doctor recommended setting up blinds in his bedroom, since the fact he wakes up with rays of sunshine on his face could affect him tremendously. Being the full-time accountant he was, he didn’t have enough time to go out and purchase curtains, so he placed an online order instead. Sadly, this is what he received.
Model Not Included
Should the Amazon seller have specified the model is not included in the purchase or should have the buyer understood that from the start, seeing as how human trafficking is not allowed? We are not quite sure what currency was used to specify that he had used 5,000 of it to make this purchase, but it slightly seems as though there was a serious communication problem. Maybe this will be a lesson for the buyer so that he knows better than to try and purchase women online.
Spreading It Thin
Beth had just moved into a new apartment after separating from her boyfriend of eight years. The two had previously lived together, but once deciding to go their separate ways, they had to separate everything they bought together. One of the things Beth was willing to give up was their wooden chopping board and bread knife, thinking she would just replace it with another one she would buy online. However, when her purchase arrived, it turned out she should have checked the dimensions.
What A Snake
While we personally do not know of anyone who would purchase a belt in the shape of a snake’s head (unless it was a joke or Halloween costume), it seemed the person who did place an order for the bizarre product was gravely unhappy with the way it had turned out. Maybe it is the black eyes that are oddly positioned on its head, or perhaps the general, overall way it looks, but the snake belt resembles a sad alligator more than a dangerous serpent.
Distorted To Say The Least
The girl in the picture thought she was getting a Winnie the Pooh mask for Halloween but had no idea what her mom ordered her would look as disturbing as this mask. It almost looks as though she put on a thin sheet that was meant to be placed on top of a cake, meaning it was an edible printed version of the well-known cartoon. Still, she was willing to go to school with pride, wearing the mask that made her face seem highly distorted.
While many people save their shopping spree for whenever they actually go abroad, this girl did not want to spend what little time she had off from work going from one store to another. Her sunny destination was Crete, Greece, and she wanted to have an ensemble planned every day in advance – that way, she would not have to overthink every clothing decision and spend too much time fussing about what she was wearing. Disappointingly, the size chart online was way off, leaving her with no clothes to wear at all.
Christy left a 1-star review on Amazon after her daughter purchased the crochet top, writing the following: “My 16-year-old daughter bought this thing. It is ridiculously small and I probably couldn’t legally post a picture of what it looks like if she attempts to wear it. But, so you can see.., here is a picture of our cat wearing it. To be fair, it does cover all of the cat’s nipples. However, she hates the weave. In summary, do not buy this, even for your cat.”
19-year-old Peter Clatworthy went on eBay to look for the ultimate Christmas present for his son. When he came across an Xbox One that cost $750, he didn’t think for a second it could be a scam. Much to his surprise, the item he received was nothing more than an A4 paper with a picture of the console printed on it. “I looked at the seller’s feedback and there was nothing negative.” Luckily, Peter contacted PayPal and eBay, who made sure he was refunded and received a free Xbox One.
Winter was fast approaching and poor adorable Tiny had a hard time dealing with the temperatures dropping so drastically. At the age of 13, the ‘ol chap was long past his puppy days and needed something to keep his brittle bones warm when going on walks. For this reason, precisely, his owner went online and bought him a coat. Although she made triple sure the dimensions stated on the website fit Tiny’s measurings, the company still sent the wrong size over.
Stilts Not Included
George ordered jeans from ASOS after spending a lot of time checking out the different styles on the website. He did not consider himself to be an overly cautious shopper, but after hearing one too many horror stories about online shoppers who received a very different product than what they ordered, he was aware of the importance of reading the fine print. The pair he found stated 32 inches in length, which seemed like a decent length – until he found out the store has less than accurate measuring tapes.
Gender Free For Me
Plaid is the type of print that would look casual and fitting for a forest hiker, and at the same time, feminine and classy when used for a dress. Country girl Sam usually bought her clothes from the local store they had in town, but when her best friend Rachel raved about her latest online purchases, she decided to give it a go. Sam placed an order for the dress in the picture, but the seller must have gotten the order confused since she received a man’s button-down shirt instead.
Crawling On The Walls
This kitty was far from impressed by the gift his owner got him. While cats are not known for expressing their feelings as well as other pets, such as dogs, this one was acing the disappointed glare. His owner had good intentions at heart, knowing his can Shorty needed something to keep him from quite literally crawling on the walls with boredom. Unfortunately, there was no way of foreseeing that this would be the miniature version of a cat climbing post.
Basically The Same
The concept of a heat sensitive mug has completely taken over the internet. Much like nail polish that changes color according to temperature, this mug too can come to life when it contains a hot or cold beverage. Peter was feeling particularly festive, which is why he decided his Secret Santa gift to coworker Andy would be the best one yet. He placed an order for a Christmas-themed heat sensitive mug – but received a mug with a printed photo of a heat sensitive mug instead.
Brenda was used to her roommate Cassie making foolish decisions whenever she went out for happy hour at their local pub, especially since she had a weak spot for placing orders online. Countless times has Brenda signed off on a package that turned out to be something as random and ridiculous as horse shampoo and a Harry Potter book in Chinese, but this tiny television stand was simply too much. Cassie explained she meant to buy a normal sized stand, but the outcome is pure comedy.
Over the years, retailers and factory owners have become remarkably better at producing goods that do not look like cheap rip-offs, despite being far off the original product. Telling signs such as hidden logos and even copied warranties can now be found in the illegal copies made, which makes it harder for customers to tell the difference between the real and faux labels. This watch, however, is far from resembling the real deal. This is one online shopping spree that has gone ludicrously terrible.
Trash The Dress
The best aspect of working out is that finally, you see positive physical changes in your body. Suddenly, you can pull off that too-tight dress you put aside for when you would drop a size, or walk on the beach with your t-shirt off because you finally have that six pack you’ve always dreamt of. This guy bought the loose tank top in the picture below, thinking it would be a good outfit to work out in. However, he ended up receiving a body-hugging mini dress instead.
