Aspiring Barista Is Handing Free Coffee Through His Window

Instead of sitting idly in self-isolation, an aspiring barista in San Francisco has been making and offering free coffee to essential workers who pass by his window. Ben Ramirez was just taking barista classes in an effort to open up his own coffee shop when social distancing rules came into place. Now that he will have to wait a while before resuming his endeavor, Ramirez has come up with the idea to help essential workers by handing them free coffee through the window of his home.

Essential Workers Get a Free Cup of Coffee On Their Way to Work

Staying inside his home on Pfeiffer street, Ramirez decided to use the brewing supplies and ingredients he had in abundance and make coffee for hospital staffers, mailmen, and other essential workers who walk past his window. He is still careful to maintain the social distancing guidelines though. Ramirez passes the coffee to his visitors with a toy gorilla arm that his son was gracious enough to lend him.

In an interview, he said that he had always wanted to do something through the window of his home because he lives on a nice and small street and everyone knows each other. This gave him an opening to provide the goods to those who need it most – the essential workers. He advertises his free coffee with a sidewalk sign and has been very successful in his efforts. Ramirez encourages others who love their neighborhood to find ways to help with similar labor, be it through the window or in some other way.

This is just one of the many positive stories that have come up recently with the implementation of social distancing rules, and such inspiring people are by no means in short supply. It seems hard times really do bring out the best in people.
